Stabilizing Coastal Slopes for a High-Value Residential Development

The KMZ Beach House development sits along a steep coastal landscape where weathered rock faces and exposed slopes pose long-term safety and erosion risks. To protect the property and ensure the stability of the surrounding terrain, engineered slope protection and consolidation measures were required.
TEICO delivered a targeted stabilization solution that secures the slope while maintaining the natural aesthetics of the premium waterfront environment.

Project Overview

The project focused on stabilizing a coastal slope adjacent to the Beach House structure. The slope exhibited loose surface material, fractured rock zones, and potential for localized rockfall—conditions that needed to be addressed to safeguard both the residence and the surrounding landscape.

Challenges Identified

  • Coastal Weathering and Surface InstabilityContinuous exposure to wind, salt, and moisture accelerated deterioration and detachment of surface material.
  • Fractured and Irregular Rock FacesPortions of the slope showed open joints and loose blocks that required close-contact stabilization.
  • Steep Slope Geometry Near Built StructuresThe slope's proximity to the Beach House required precision work and careful control of debris.
  • Limited Access for EquipmentSections of the slope could only be reached using rope-access and light drilling setups.

Solution Implemented:

1. Reinforced Wire Mesh Installation
  • Installed 1,300 m² of reinforced wire mesh to provide continuous containment of loose rock fragments and stabilize weathered sections.
2. Cable Netting for High-Risk Zones
  • Applied 234 m² of cable netting in areas with deeper fractures or larger unstable blocks.
  • The cable network delivered higher load capacity and increased surface conformity.
3. Targeted Consolidation Works
  • Installed anchors and applied spot grouting where necessary to tie unstable sections back into competent rock.
4. Controlled Work-at-Height Execution
  • Utilized rope-access teams and lightweight equipment to safely operate across the steep coastal face while preventing disruption to the residence.
